Kingston (Observer): THE ganja trial of well-know dancehall artiste Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Pryce failed to get under way this morning in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court due to the recent passing of the entertainer's mother, Miss Ivy.
Pryce was scheduled to begin his trial today but was granted bereavement leave to deal with the death of his mother when he appeared in court today before Resident Magistrate Maxine Ellis who extended his bail.
The trial was rescheduled for June 6.
The entertainer's mother, Ivy Williams, passed away on February 26 at the Medical Associates Hospital in St Andrew after she lost the fight to cancer.
The artiste however is facing charges of possession of and smoking ganja. Allegations are that Pryce was seen smoking along Grenada Way in New Kingston in October 2010.
He was held and searched and a small quantity of the drug was reportedly found in his possession.
The artiste was subsequently arrested and charged.
He is being represented by attorney Linda Wright.
