Vybz Kartel escaped?....

In the biggest prison escape in Jamaica history, on 30 November 2011 in Jamaica, at Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road, its alleged that Dancehall star Vybz Kartel, who had been charged of offenses including several murders and ganja possession, escaped from the prison along with 7 other prisoners. One prison officer died of a heart attack as a result of the escape and twelve others were injured, including two who were shot with guns that had been smuggled into the prison. Shortly after 1:00 am, Vybz Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, took control of the jail holding the prison guards hostage at gunpoint. Some of the prisoners took the guards clothing and car keys in order to help with their escape. The group of prisoners also impersonated prison officers on the phone and created false stories to ward off suspicion from authorities The Police gave chase resulting in the capture of one of the prisoners. At about 1:45 am, they eventually made their way to the prison maintenance pickup-truck which they used to escape from the prison ground. The escape occurred during the slowest period of the night when there would be less surveillance of certain locations like the maintenance area. News in the street is that the Force Commissioner, who heads the Criminal Investigations Branch, said that the artiste and the other escapees are now on the run and are listed as “Jamaica’s most wanted criminals.” Palmer, who has been in custody since October 1, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal possession of firearm arising from the death of Barrington Burton, a St Catherine businessman/promoter. Burton was shot and killed while standing with friends in Gregory Park, St Catherine, in July. Also, Kartel along with fellow Portmore Empire artiste, Shawn Storm, his designer/booking agent, Calvin “Moonie” Haye and Cayro Jones appeared simultaneously in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrates Court. Each of the men was charged with murder in relation to the killing of Clive “Lizard” Williams in Havendale, St. Andrew this past August. Persons seeing or knowing the whereabouts of any of the escapees including the deejay are asked to contact detectives at the Spanish Town Police Station, Kingfish at 811, Crime Stop at 311 or Police Control at 119.

Wyclef Jean.. Defensive

Wyclef ...crying
International hip hop star Wyclef Jean has denied that his charity, Yele Haiti, fraudulently used funds raised for victims of the January 2010 earthquake. The claim was made in a New York Post article that said less than a third of the US$16 million raised for earthquake relief was used for emergency efforts. Another US$1 million was reportedly paid to Amisphere Farm Labor Inc. that failed to complete the necessary paperwork to be incorporated in Florida. However, the Haiti-born star said in a statement that the claims were “misleading, deceptive and incomplete”. Wyclef said “The percentage of funds used is consistent with NGOs and Not For Profits operating in Haiti at the time.” He also said that he has acknowledged that Yele has made mistakes in the past, including, being late in IRS filings, but that is old news. According to the Grammy-award winning musician, the decisions made by Yele, which he co-founded in 2005, were in response to one of the world’s most catastrophic natural disasters in modern history that required immediate humanitarian action. He said he was proud of the way that Yele handled the crisis on the ground in 2010 as they were able to feed, clothe, provide medical assistance and shelter for more than 250,000 people in need.

As for the Kartel issue, this does not affect Mavado's career ..but he is surprised at the turn of the events.

Blak Ryno should be Crying

Blak Ryno
Garrison recording artiste Blak Ryno was robbed on the weekend after his motor vehicle was broken into and several items stolen. The incident occurred last Friday night (November 25) in the vicinity of Burlington Avenue near the offices of Supreme Promotions while Ryno was in a meeting. It was after leaving the meeting that the entertainer discovered thieves had broken into his car and removed several pieces of clothing along with his passport and other travel documents. Ironically, the deejay had just collected his passport hours earlier after using it to conduct official business. "I was at a meeting with my management when the incident occurred. They broke into the car and took out a brand new suit I had just bought for a show on the same night along with my passport and some other items. They can keep the suit and the other things, I just need back my passport because I have several overseas engagements in the coming days," Ryno was quoted as saying in a press release issued by his management team. The artiste, whose given name is Romane Anderson, is appealing to the perpetrator(s) to leave the passport at a police station, radio or television station or contact him at 847-0711, as the recovery of the passport is important. The Whine Me singer is booked to appear on St Lucia's Lovefest in December, and has other engagements in Costa Rica and Turks and Caicos before returning to the island for the much-publicised Sting 2011. I wonder if they gonna be thinking if Vybz kartel have anything to do with this. Its really a pitty the rate at which these artiste are getting fleeced of their belongings..and once again the passport is gone.. idk good time to walk with them man bag and at least par with your song writer.. to make it look like a some form of security.

Concert for Buju Banton Legal Defense

CROSS ROADS (Rjr): A benefit concert is to be held for incarcerated reggae artiste Buju Banton on December 3 in Tampa, Florida. The lineup card for the benefit concert includes Delly Ranx, Gramps Morgan, Nadine Sutherland, Glen Washington and Norris Man along with a yet-to-be named special guest artiste. Proceeds from the concert will go towards Buju’s efforts to appeal his conviction and ten year prison sentence. Also, persons planning to attend the show will be asked to make a donation for the cause as organizers hope to make at least US$50,000 from the concert for Buju's legal defense. According to event's main organizer, Taranee Jiles, they decided to do benefit concerts for the artiste. Buju Banton himself, through his legal team, issued a statement urging his fans to turn out for the concert stating, "I, Mark Myrie - aka Buju Banton, support and deem the concert being organized by Taranee Jiles to be a legitimate undertaking in order to raise funds for my legal defense and pending appeal. Your kind support will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.” "His fellow artists have come together in unity to aid this cause. It is time for the people to give back and uplift him now. It will give him the opportunity to defend himself,” Ms Jiles said.

YouTube Deleted Demarco's Song..tsk tsk

KINGSTON(Star): Weeks after dancehall singjay DeMarco passed the 20 million mark on YouTube.com for his single 'Love My Life', the site has deleted both versions of the upload claiming that the site received complaints from users. However, Demarco's management believes it was an attack on the artiste's music. According to the manager, Karl Palmer, while there are haters, he did not know that people had the power to remove songs. "The publicist called and said the songs were gone and we don't understand why. I mean, I know that people will be negative but I did not know they have the power to remove songs," he said. "We want to restore them, and we intend to contact YouTube. One profile had 10 million views and the other had 14 million views and both were deleted so it looks personal," he said. The manager said Demarco's views were legit, and expressed that efforts made by detractors to hamper his musical progress will not be successful. "Dat cyaah stop wi. A nuh from YouTube wi eat food. But YouTube is still good help so we will do our best to fix it ... Demarco's talent cannot be denied and the world has spoken, plus we have nuff more songs like I love My life in store," he said. Richard Walsh of Vap Buss Music, who was responsible for the upload, said he did not violate any terms outlined by the site. "The thing was wrongfully taken down, I don't upload nudity and I don't upload international artiste so I didn't breach their copyright code ... It's just some people a fight di movement and flag the profile," he said. According Walsh, the message he received said that YouTube got numerous complaints by viewers that the material uploaded by his page was offensive. "Them sey some people complain sey mi break rules ... But I think the haters dem just out to get the page since we get 14 million views and get featured in THE WEEKEND STAR. Nuff a dem have more subscribers than mi and don't have 14 million views suh mi feel like a dat bun dem," he said. Walsh says that YouTubers don't have much protection or defence against being flagged by viewers, so any unscrupulous person can flag the material. "I hope to speak to DeMarco's team, so that we can approach YouTube and get it fixed because I think it was a personal attack," he said. He also had stern words for YouTubers who flag other profiles. "It's not an attack on me. You should just love music because you can't stop me by flagging my page, I will always start over, some a dem feel like true dem a upload song dem a star but dem fi know sey a di artiste a di star," he said. Walsh says that Vap Buss Music will embark on a record label called Ordaz Hill entertainment in the near future and there is already a new YouTube account. Meanwhile, the message Walsh received from YouTube reads. "This account has been suspended due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy against spam, scams and commercially deceptive content."

Brand new song Mavado ft Akon Survivor

Mavado with the Jamaicandancehallmusic.com tatoo
Check out this brand new song from Mavado featuring Akon. The track is called "Survivor"... its already being said that this is a big one for Mavado and it is expected that this will bring forth nothing less than further stardom for the man who is sometimes refered to as Gully Creature aka Gully Gaad. Its a bit interesting the title of the track because bounty Killer and Elephant Man recently did a track of similar name and there is no doubt there will be speculation that this could be some counter to that track given the strained relations between Gully Squad and Alliance. The fact that Akon is a part of this indicates the potential of the tune and it is epected to do well.
Check out the tune here...

United States Want More Jamaican Dancehall Artiste

KINGSTON (Gleaner): A popular Jamaican dancehall artiste is reportedly wanted in Michigan, United States, on drug related allegations. A law enforcement officer said the entertainer, who has had several hit songs is also wanted on at least two warrants. The singjay, who is one of the top-ranked artistes in the dancehall is also a green card holder. The officer said he is not the only Jamaican entertainer being sought by the US on drug-related allegations. The latest information comes against the background of a recent statement made by head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Assistant Commissioner Ealan Powell, that a number of entertainers have popped up on the police radar and will be arrested soon. Powell’s comment came shortly after the arrest of controversial dancehall star, Adidja Palmer, who goes by the stage name ‘Vybz Kartel’.

Popcaan getting Popular

KINGSTON (Observer): DANCEHALL artiste Popcaan is red hot these days churning out multiple hits. The deejay currently has two songs riding the local charts namely Ravin and Only Man She Want. The big news is that Popcaan's Ravin has been added to the playlist of UK urban radio station BBC 1Xtra. A quick glance of the station's playlist reveals Popcaan is competing for airtime with songs from major acts including Amy Winehouse, Chris Brown, Jessie J, Kelly Rowland, J Cole, Jay Z and Kanye West, Drake and Big Sean among others. This is a significant milestone for Popcaan as the last Jamaican act to have achieved this feat was Sean Paul. And while Popcaan's stocks continue to rise locally, the deejay has been in constant demand for performances outside of the island. Only Man She Want for Sounique Records is currently number two on the BBC 1Xtra Dancehall chart.

Popcaaan adrift with freedom

Popcaan Says He Haven't Been In Touch With Vybz Kartel, Doing His Own Thing

Contestant from Teacha's Pet ..career boost

Lola mack and Chi Ching
Two of the contestants from reality dating show Teacha's Pet, which stars deejay Vybz Kartel, have utilised the show to launch their own careers in the music industry. 'Brooklyn', aka K-Shoya, and Lola Mack have hit the airwaves with a song each. The two girls vied for Kartel's heart on the show which is aired on CVM every Friday night. K-Shoya debuts in a rap song with artiste Gelleti called PG'd Up, while Lola Mack has a song with Chi Ching Ching called Best Friend Party. K-Shoya became popular on the show when she gained the attention of Vybz Kartel particularly in Episodes 5 and 6 after winning a fashion show challenge and securing a date with the dancehall artiste — she also has won over worldwide audiences single-handedly. Thus far, K-Shoya has not been eliminated. The reality star turned artiste heads her very own dancehall empire in Brooklyn, where she hails from. Under K Shoy Entertainment she does everything from modeling and singing to management, promotions, and media. She will also be hosting her own birthday bash in Brooklyn dubbed the 'Teacher's Pet' edition. Lola Mack was seen being eliminated on the show last week Friday but that hasn't stopped her trying to focus on her career. The 'Teacha's Pet' debuted on air in September as 20 hopefuls set out to win the heart of dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel in dancehall's very first reality show.

Teacha's Pet Gets Boost from Kartels Troubles

KINGSTON (Star)Director Jay Will claims that the incarceration of deejay Vybz Kartel has caused the reality dating show 'Teacha's Pet' to be even more popular than expected. The director claims that the deejay's arrest has caused the show to be the "hottest ting a road". When Kartel was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, two counts of murder and conspiracy to murder in October, it seemed that his latest project Teacha's Pet would be facing the axe. Shortly after Kartel's arrest, telecommunications giant LIME announced that due to the serious nature of the charges against him, it had made the decision to discontinue its broadcast of the reality series on its mobile TV with immediate effect. But despite this, the show is not only still airing every Friday night on CVM TV, but still creating waves. Speaking with The WEEKEND STAR yesterday, Jason 'Jay Will' Williams was delighted with the progress of the show in which he has had a major hand from the beginning. "The response is overwhelming, I've never seen in history a programme surrounding an artiste that has garnered such worldwide interest," he said. According to Will, the show's page on social networking site Facebook.com, is proof of how well it is doing. "We have 29,000 active users on our Facebook page daily asking about what's going on. People are logging on and interested, the girls are stars. People are sitting down every Thursday night waiting on the sneak peek of the show for the next night to see what's going to happen. It's the new thing on a Friday night, nobody nah go a road anymore, everybody a watch Teacha's Pet," he said. The director said that Kartel's incarceration has assisted the ratings for the show. He said "In my opinion Vybz Kartel's incarceration probably has boosted the controversy of the show especially internationally. People have heard about it and searched for him on the Internet and are running into Teacha's Pet." With the show's popularity on a high, Will says he and his team are planning to do a 'reunion episode'. The reunion episode he says will see all the girls returning to look back on the show and share their experiences. He explained that the original concept of the episode was to have them sit down with Vybz Kartel and the substitute teacher, Milk. While Will hopes Kartel's incarceration will end by the time they are ready to do this, if that doesn't happen he says that the show will go on with Milk and the girls. One of the popular queries from fans Will explained, is whether the show will end properly since Kartel was arrested. He said, "Teacha's Pet is fully filmed and completed. The winner and everything was chosen before Kartel's arrest." According to Will, Kartel and his pet got time together after the filming finished and she has been in communication with him since his arrest. The show consists of 13 fully-filmed episodes of which Episode 8 will be aired tonight. Will also explained that with the pull back of corporate sponsorship from the show, the producers would like to advise persons willing to advertise with Teacha's Pet to email: teachaspet@gmail.com

Jamaican artiste flock to Africa

With the rise of africa in terms of wealth and power in this world ..its no wonder the Jamaican musician is now looking to africa for oppertunities. this was expressed in a recent observer report. Cross Roads (Observer): THE continent of Africa has always been a cherished place for many Jamaicans, particularly those whose foreparents were brought forcibly to this part of the world. Through cultural forces including the work of Rastafari and the power of reggae, the African continent has been maintained positively in the psyche of many a Jamaican. Over the year, cultural reggae acts, especially those who ascribe to the tenets of Rastafari have maintained the link with 'The Motherland', however today, young dancehall artistes are making inroads into the African market. Names like Mavado, Vegas, Elephant Man and up-and-coming acts including Wasp, Denyque and Darrio have been making stops in Africa in recent months as they continue to spread their music. Controversial deejay Mavado grabbed headlines a few weeks ago during his first trip to Ghana in West Africa. The 'man from the gullyside' told journalists in the Ghanian capital Accra, that he may settle in that country in the near future. He was quoted in online reports saying "Ghana reminds me of home," adding that he may settle in Ghana in the near future as soon as he gets a piece of land. According to publicist Olimatta Taal, who was raised in Ghana it is that "feeling of home" effect which grabs a number of reggae acts when they arrive on the African continent. Taal who has facilitated tours and visits of Africa for a number of artistes including Sizzla, Junior Kelly and Fantan Mojah, notes that many artistes are struck by the similarities in African and Jamaica that they immediately feel a connection. She adds that the disconnect also occurs from the viewpoint of Africans, and meeting with these Jamaican brothers and sisters serves to re-inforce the bond. "That historical connection between Africans at home and abroad has been lost in some instances, but maintained on another level through the music. Music has built a bond between Jamaica and Africa and the work of artistes, past and present, is a great unifying force. Zimbabwe, which over 30 years ago witnessed the mysticism of the King of Reggae Bob Marley, remains a popular spot for touring reggae acts. Just last weekend, dancehall fans were left with mixed reviews following a concert featuring Jamaican dancehall act, Mr Vegas. Newspaper reports out of that country indicate that patrons walked out on the artiste's performance, which was described by some as being boring. However, interviews with some patrons offered opposing opinions, indicating that some members of the audience may not appreciate the genre of dancehall. Like Mavado, Vegas also indicated a love for the African continent, likening it to Jamaica reportedly stating: "If I could, I would stay here forever since I enjoyed my stay." Following the Vegas show, Clint Robinson, the promoter of the event, reportedly told journalists that Mavado from will be heading to Harare for a performance on December 16. Robinsons is quoted as saying he believed Zimbabweans could identify better with Jamaicans as compared to other stars from other countries hence his decision to bring in Jamaican artistes. Meanwhile, the energy god himself, Elephant Man also seems set for gigs in Africa. A statement from the deejay indicates that he has two events in Africa next month. The first will be in Uganda on December 2, and the other in Kigali, Rwanda on December 3. This follows shows in Zimbabwe earlier this year. And Konshens has also had his taste of Africa. The young act and his protégé Darrio, recently returned to Jamaica after a stop in Nairobi, Kenya. "Performing for thousands of fans in the motherland was electrifying. We were well received and I do believe that every artiste should get this experience at some point in their career," Darrio states. Singjay Wasp was also excited about a two-week stint on the African continent with fellow entertainers, Cocoa Tea, Beres Hammond, Fantan Mojah and Giovanni. That tour formed part of the Lager Beer Summer Festival and saw Wasp and his compatriots making stops in Harare, Zimbabwe and Johannesburg, South Africa. In April of this year singer Denyque made her African debut in Kenya as the host of the Insyder SKIZA CHAT Awards where she was also a nominee. Her shift from the known cultural reggae acts to the current dancehall crop does not surprise Taal. She notes, "All musical genres have a place in Africa. Whatever is popular in Jamaica filters through to Africa thanks to technology. The Internet makes everything quicker so it was bound to happen." She adds, "Furthermore, every general will seek out what is popular at that time."

Vybz Kartel investigated for Five More Murders

KINGSTON (Gleaner): Embattled dancehall entertainer, Vybz Kartel, is now being probed in relation to five other murder cases. Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is now before the courts in relation to two murder cases. However, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Assistant Commissioner Ealan Powell, said probes carried out by detectives have implicated Kartel in five additional murders that took place in the Corporate Area and St Catherine. ACP Powell said charges are expected to be laid against the controversial DJ soon. On October 3, Kartel was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in connection with the killing of businessman Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton. Vybz Kartel Pampered?

This is a cartoonist depiction by Clovis from the Observer. It seems that Kartel is living a "good life" in the cell. As the feds were recently caught going on with what would be described as some "skulldugery". Its being alleged that it was Vybz Kartel's mother who had given them money for favours one of which was for some persons to see the artiste.

Vybz Kartel Transferred

Vybz kartel on the right in when he was free
Under the recent cloud of bribery allegations, it is under stood that the Vybz Kartel aka World Boss have been transferred to the Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road...

No Longer an Interest in FLexxx

Flexx from the Gulliance Squad and his Lawyers Tom Tavares Finson met with the authorities for approximately 20 minutes ..and it was discovered that it was not much of an interest they had in him in the first place, the intrest was described as very minimal. He was released and is now on his way back to the United States to complete his tour.

Cops Caught on Camera taking Vybz Kartel affiliated Money

Cross Roads (Observer): SIX policemen who were assigned to the Gun Court Remand Centre have been transferred and are facing certain corruption charges after they were allegedly caught on camera taking money from a close relative of jailed popular entertainer Vybz Kartel. The entertainer, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is currently facing two separate charges of murder, along with his fashion stylist Calvin 'Moonie' Haye. According to Observer sources, investigators from the police Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) followed one of the policemen from the Gun Court Remand Centre to the home of a close relative of the deejay where he was videotaped taking money from her. The damning video also showed one policeman accepting money from a suspect in one of Kartel's murder cases in exchange for his being allowed to visit the deejay in a restricted area of the lock-up, said a source. The visit is said to have taken place before the man was arrested in connection with the murder case. The man, the source noted, was not searched before being allowed into an area of the facility which is off limits to members of the public. The source also said the man spent a considerable amount of time talking to Kartel, while other police officers stood by and did nothing to bring the illicit visit to a halt. Kartel, who has been in jail since October 3, has been transferred to the Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road because of the incident, according to an Observer source. Kartel, Haye, deejay Shawn Storm, and Cayro Jones have been charged with the August 16 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams. Police say Williams, whose body has not been found, was stabbed and shot to death over a missing illegal firearm. The murder is believed to have occurred in Havendale, St Andrew. The prosecution has said it has video and phone evidence in the case. Kartel has also been charged, along with other men, with the July murder of labourer Barrington 'Bossie' Bryan in Gregory Park, Portmore, St Catherine.

Mavado distance himself from Flexxx

What is happening with Mavado and his gully squad especially where Flexxx is concerned. Word out was that the authotities have an interest in the Gulliance artist Flexx and it was reported that he was on tour with Mavado. This was quickly tourn down by Mavado saying that he and Flexxx are on two different agenda in the states. Mavado is woking on his album in the Florida area whilst Flexxx is on tour doing his own thing.
Speculation are that there is a bit of a tention between the two as Flexxx offered no "background" support on the recent assaults on Bounty Killer, Patexxx and the alliance by aspects of the gully squad, namely Chase Cross and Mavado...
Time is good thing to apply to this ailment and stepback and see what brews here... something tells me this will amount to nothing. What we need to understand here is that Mavado has an image to maintain..dude just got back his visa... I suppose he is justified in trying to pretect himself.

Popcaan New Song Naughty Girl

this is a brand new song from Popcaan the last of the Gaza Potmore Enterprize..perhaps alongside tommy lee and the girls. This new track from Popcaan called "Naughty Girl" .. is below par of his previous tracks like "ravin" and "clean"... im not too impressed with this one ...but it can listen to.. it needs to grow on mi..

Elephant Man temps them with €10,000 Jewelry

I find it really strange for a man who was robbed several times.. attacked by a utility company for the non payment of bills and was deprived of his expensive motor vehicle by the tax authorities for tax evasion, to be flaunting his newly acquired expensive Jewellery. Elephant Man apparently recently bought €10,000 euro jewelry and here is basically saying come here Mr. Tax man come and get it... or thief...or JPSCo..n other ROFL. but one should remember that Elepjant man is a Survivor

I-Octane "informer a work" banned?

Just as news broke that I-Octane is getting ready to release his début album called "Straight from the Heart" its alleged that one of the artiste song was banned from popular radio station Zipfm. The song called "Informer A Work" produced by Armzhouse Records has the theme about keeping the informers quiet.. telling them to desist from such behaviour which is not the kind of message that Zipfm want to publish at this time. Anyway I-Octanes album is expected to be released in digital format on December 6.. so the informers can go and spread that info. Check out the Banned tune here

Lollipop Rubbished by BOUNTY KILLER FT. GABRIEL

I dont know if this is some form of desperation on the part of Gabriel.. im thinking here that she must have promised Bounty Killer something or better yet threatened him because this song Lollipop by Millie Small was converted into an annoying gibberish. The Bounty Killer potion of the song is not too bad ..but Gabriel part of the song is so bad..that I heard the song yesterday and my ears still hurt... Bounty Killer do better than this.. this song should have never been released. Take a pree of the song BOUNTY KILLER FT. GABRIEL - LOLLIPOP

Vybz Kartel Keeps Legal Team

Vybz Kartel apparently did not change his lawyers according to the latest reports. In a release Kartel was quoted in a letter as saying "I have not retained or engaged the services of Hannah Harris-Barrington to represent me in any matter and she is not authorised to speak on my behalf or to discuss my case."
Barrington had conceded to this latest development indicating that Kartel had switched once again.
Im not 100% sure here but the DJ seems confused and grabbing at straws ..I dont know Mrs Barrington but no one in their right mind can just get up and make statements as she did in regards to taking over the case when it was not so... so this is the bleacher teacher doing.... cant blame him still man has to try something

RIP Heavy D

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Rapper Heavy D collapsed in his Beverly Hills home Tuesday morning and died a short time later at a Los Angeles hospital, according to police and the coroner. He was 44. Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, was found conscious with difficulty breathing at his home after police were called there at 11:25 a.m., the Beverly Hills police said in a news release. He was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon, according to Los Angeles County coroner's operations chief Craig Harvey. The cause of death has not been determined, Harvey said. While his hip-hop recording career began in 1987 with his group Heavy D & the Boyz, his breakthrough hit came in 1991 with a remake of the O'Jays' "Now That We Found Love." Heavy D's rapping was featured on Janet Jackson's 1990 hit "Alright." He rapped on Michael Jackson's 1991 hit "Jam," which he performed at last month's Michael Jackson tribute show in Cardiff, Wales. He also composed and performed the theme songs several television shows, including "In Living Color," "MADtv" and "The Tracy Morgan Show." His last CD, "Love Opus," was released this year. Heavy D also pursued an acting career, which included mostly roles on TV shows and movies. He played a courthouse guard in the Eddie Murphy film "Tower Heist," released last weekend. He used his Twitter account Monday night to express sadness about the death of boxer Joe Frazier: "SMOKIN JOE FRAZIER..RIP.. truly one of the best heavyweight champs that ever lived.. GODS SPEED,MR FRAZIER!" Heavy D's last Twitter message, posted late Monday, was: "BE INSPIRED!"

Duppy Lizard takes Vanessa's Bling..aka Gaza Slim

KINGSTON (Crystal Harrison, Star Writer) : Portmore Empire artiste Gaza Slim, aka Vanessa Bling, has reported to the St Andrew North police that she was recently robbed and gunbutted by a man who claimed to be Clive Williams, the deceased man that Vybz Kartel has been accused of murdering. Williams, otherwise called 'Lizard', was reportedly murdered on August 16. Since then, Vybz Kartel and several other persons were charged with murder. However, Vanessa Bling has reported to the police that on October 29, about 8 p.m., as she was walking along Coolshade Drive in Havendale when she was pounced upon by a man. THE STAR understands that she has told the police that the man, Williams, robbed her of her BlackBerry phone and jewellery. It was also reported that she was hit in the face with a gun. The man then reportedly drove off in a Nissan motor car. Several attempts by THE STAR to contact Vanessa Bling up to press time proved futile as calls to her mobile phone went unanswered. Williams was reportedly killed after he was taken to a house in Havendale where he was beaten and stabbed to death over the loss of an illegal gun. His body has not been found. Last Thursday, it was revealed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court that the police have video evidence implicating Kartel and others in William's murder. They are to return to court on December 2.

Flexxxx from Mavado's gully Squad Wanted like Julian...

KINGSTON (Star): Although named as a person of interest, dancehall artiste Flexxx is yet to report to the St Andrew North Police Division as he is currently on tour in the United States. On the weekend, Flexxx, whose real name is Omar Henry, was listed among 14 men who the police say they believe can assist their investigations into recent crimes in their division. However, up to press time last night, a detective from the division said Flexxx was not among those who have reported to the police. Efforts to get in contact with the artiste proved futile but his publicist, Nackesha Doyley, said he was currently on tour with Mavado and the Gully Squad in the United States. He went to join Mavado for a show in California on November 4. In addition to the show in California, it was previously reported that he would be headlining a number of shows in the United States this month. He was scheduled to spend a month there where he would perform in places like Boston, Oakland and New York, along with fellow Gulliance artiste Kibaki. It was also said that the Fresh-singer would return to the island in time for Sting at which he promised a good performance. "This Sting is going to be a very different performance from me, if a man a guh Sting and naah war him betta look a war, wi naah look nuh war but wi haffi defend wi self," Flexxx was quoted as saying in a previous release issued to the media. In the meantime, the police say they have tried on several occasions and by several means to contact the persons of interest but their efforts have proven futile. They are now appealing to the men listed to turn themselves in to police personnel at the Constant Spring Police Station or the nearest police station immediately.

Vybz Kartel Makes a Lawyer Shuffle

Vybz Kartel while he was free
Reports are that Vybz Kartel has changed his lawyers and opted to use the likes of Hannah Harris Barrington.. Ninja Man's Lawyer. Barrington was contacted by Kartel's family and was asked to visit him, Barrington will be working with at least 2 other attorneys in an a attempt to have the controversial dj freed from multiple charges. A move like this is an indication that the defence could be on the back foot, grabbing at straws... , finson could be punching a hole in the pocket of the DJ..and it would be pointless with the kind of evidence that the prosecution claim they have to take it any further.

Deva Bratt vs Iyara Lyrical Clash Goes Further

Bwoy this thing tun up... its just a matter of a few seconds when a DJ can hear a diss and create a counteraction immediately ..thereafter. The war of lyrics between Iyara and Deva Bratt.. is getting heated. In Deva's reply to Iyara's "Bruk the One Way" the dj tell the man bout his mother... and this is coming off some alleged personal life threat that Iyara made against him in his track. In Deva's outro he did indicate that this thing is for fun and lyrical contest however if there is interest to take it further..he not afraid of Gaza fans much less GAYlliance ...
Check out the The Tracks and determine who take this round..

Bounty Killer Elephant Man Official Video Survivor

Even though they have their problems .. Elephant Man and Bounty Killer ..still trod the road to more success and show the world that they are suvivors. No matter how much time government confiscate your assets, no matter how much times dem robb yuh... no matter much time dem lock up u rass fi beat up gyal... them say them shake off dat ..cause them just get stronger... dem a survivors the video is little bit too long.. some of the solo elephant man part could have been cut down, but all in all its a nice video from Bounty Killer and Elephant Man - the official video for i am a Survivor track.

This Round to Deva Bratt

In the lyrical confrontations leading up to sting 2011 the one between Iyara and Deva Bratt seem to have spark a "fresh" sound to the thing. The others also have a fond interest by dancehall fans ie the Tony vs Twins and the Beenie vs Bounty. Iyara is not very well known above the dancehall ground.. described as Bounty's shoe lace by Deva, the DJ is apart of the ANG formulated by Bounty Killer. He does not have much rotation as he complains about in his song.. but he does have the battling skills. In this round of diss songs .. the main target by Iyara was Deva's rangling with the authorities for his alleged misdeeds with a school girl. But deva came back good with a nice flow that is packed with witty lyrics and we deemed it better that Iyara's so we give this round to Deva Bratt even though the one bagga talking in the end like gussi clarke would have been better if he put it in song. Gyptian and Hallow Point Brand New Song

The forgotten ..Hallow Point
Hallow Point.. I didn't remember this guy until this new tune alongside Gyptian which was recently released. The BBQ riddim sounds a bit annoying to me, the effort is there but it seem a lttle bit over done... Well this is a well need boost for hallow point, if 'artiste' like chase cross and shawn storm a get 'recognition' why not for Hallow Point. .. And Hallow...dont try mek dem sounding like Sean Paul... all though you were apart of this dutty cup crew....you sound like you a pulling off a Patexxx (the youth that intermittently borrows Mavado's voice)... Check out the new tune by Gyptian and Hallow Point called "Til a Mawning".. translation "until morning"

Vybz Kartel and others Caught on Camera

KINGSTON (RjR): Investigators probing popular dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel and members of his empire for a string of alleged murders say they have video evidence of the artiste and other men killing a man at a house in Havendale, St. Andrew.
The disclosure was made on Thursday morning when Vybz Kartel and three members of his empire network appeared before the Corporate Area Criminal Court.
The other accused are dancehall artiste Shawn Campbell otherwise called Shawn Storm; fashion designer Calvin Haye otherwise called Moonie and Kiera Jones.
The men are charged for the August 16 murder of Clive Williams otherwise called 'Lizard'.
Government prosecutors reported that Mr. Williams was taken to a house in Havendale on August 16 where he was beaten and stabbed to death over a missing gun.
Mr. Haye's attorney complained that he has not seen any statement linking his client to the case.
However, this was dismissed by the investigator who disclosed that they are putting together telephone evidence linking him to the crime.
In a surprise disclosure, the investigator told senior magistrate Judith Pusey that the police have video evidence and witness statements connecting the men to the murder.
It was alleged that the killing of the young man was captured on a phone which was later seized by the police.
Vybz Kartel and the other accused are to return to court on December 2 for a bail hearing.

New Song From Bounty Killer

Brand new Song from Bounty Killer as he struggle to remain relevant in the ever changing dancehall music. Rodney Price ..seem to go 90's style in this one, taking from his passed hits to derive the melody in this new tune called "Gyal".. on the Back to Basic Riddim. I dont really like this one.. but I hope the fans find the fun in it, its lame..but there can be fortune in its lameness ... Take a pree of the new track from Bounty Killer HERE

Elephant Man Robbed Again

I im not sure what it is about Elephant man why they like to rob him so. The Energy God/ Elephant Man real name Oniel Bryan was recently robbed again. Elephant Man made an appeal after his Vehicle was vandalized outside a Night Club and number of his important documents went missing. The thieves broke into his car and took his promotional CDs, passport and other documents in his imp doc pouch. Elephant Man is asking that these filthy thieves take back his documents..as he is not interested in the money but he wants back his ...documents. Elephant man was robbed in Nov 2001 exactly ten years ago at gun point in the sum 16,000 pounds in a hotel in London, England. So it seems no matter where you are Mr. Elephant bad-mind is always active..perhaps you need to invest in some security... but not the like those of Mavado and Gaza empire...ROFL

Popcaan Clean

The head, the followers and some fans may have fallen from the destruction of the Gaza Empire... but there are some fragments of the empire still remaining that will speak of the musical talent and lack thereof that existed ..or still exist i should say.. Popcaan who seem unphased by whats happening around him has released his latest video for the track called "Clean" on the Snap Back Riddim. Popcaan have never had it better ..with two songs in the top chart and this new video-- this is totally in reverse to whats happening to Kartel, Moony and Shawn Storm Anyway Check out the latest video from what is left of the Gaza Empire - Popcaan's Clean --

Shawn Storm..identified ..heads to jail

LYNDURST ROAD (Rjr): Dancehall artiste, Shawn Storm, who surrendered to the police a week ago after being named as a person of interest is facing more trouble on Tuesday morning. Storm, whose given name is Shawn Campbell, was pointed out during an identification parade held on Monday evening. It is likely that the police will lay charges against him on Tuesday. Shawn Storm, who is a member of Vybz Kartel's empire, surrendered to the police last week Monday, after he was named as a person of interest by investigators probing the murder of Clive Williams, otherwise called 'Lizard'. A week ago Vybz Kartel, was charged with Mr. Williams' murder. It is alleged that in August, Mr. Williams was taken to a house in Havendale, where he was beaten and stabbed to death over the loss of an illegal gun.

2 Others to be Charged with Vybz Kartel

Vybz Kartel..while he was free
KINGSTON (Observer): Two more men are expected to be charged jointly with deejay Vybz Kartel for the August 16 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams in Havendale, St Andrew. The revelation of the pending charges against the two was made when Kartel and co-accused Calvin 'Moonie' Haye appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The case against the two was set for mention on Thursday, by which time the other men are expected to be charged and joined with them in the defence box. One of the men was yesterday scheduled to face an identification parade.
Both Kartel — whose real name is Adidja Palmer — and Haye appeared subdued when their matter was being mentioned before RM Georgianna Fraser.
Kartel — dressed in white shirt, black pants and a dress tie hanging loosely around his neck — and Haye, decked in a grey and polka dot shirt, with matching pants were brought in court cuffed to other inmates.
Attorney Tom Tavares-Finson, who along with Michael Deans appeared for the men yesterday, told the court that Haye's name has not been mentioned in any of the statements that he has in his possession and that the prosecution will have to explain on Thursday why he had been arrested.
Kartel is to appear in the Gun Court Division of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday when it will be determined if he will be offered bail in relation to that murder charge.

Bounty and Beenie trade diss song

Bounty Killer and Beenie Man squares off in the latest round of diss songs.. but what is interesting in these latest trade off the DJs use some of their old melodies from previous diss songs some 15 years ago. In Bounty's version he cleverly uses the classic song Lodge on the Sleng Teng melody and makes references to Beenie Man and Shebada relations while drawing from old references of songs and cards..and of course his usual intro..but no outro...but there is middle-tro  ROFL...Betweenie's version went into name calling indicating Bounty Killer has been using hid tongue on the likes of Gwen Stefani the international artiste as well not so well known Milk and his estranged wife D'Angel. Beenie's tune makes use of the latest hype talk from Big Wayne sparked by twins of twins ..."wah do da man yah man".
Bounty Killers disss song for Beenie Man is called Shut Up, whilst Beenie counteraction is called Shhiit UP
