Sizzla to perform in Sweden despite Battyman Issues

KINGSTON RJR: Reggae star Sizzla Kalonji was given the okay to perform at a concert in Stockholm, Sweden, Wednesday night despite gay protests.
Last week the promoters revealed that they were forced to cancel the show due to outcry from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community.
in a statement release to the media earlier this week, Sizzla said he is prepared to abide by laws in any country he is booked to perform.

KINGSTON (Rjr): Reggae artist Konshens has been flexing his muscles as a budding entrepreneur. He recently debuted his Oh-K clothing line which specifically targets females.
The clothing line is available on the market as test run.
The launch follows on the success of his 17 track disc Mental Maintenance it reportedly sailed to the top of the Japan ITunes reggae album chart.
The disc which is distributed by VP Records, has also hit the top of Germany’s ITunes reggae album chart.
It also ranked inside the top ten of the ITunes charts in Switzerland, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

Ninja Man 'Free' at Last

Ninja man... is about to do something he had not done in three years.... touch the road.. and 'walk free'

According to the terms and conditions of his bail, Ninja Man has surrendered his travel documents and is to report to the Oracabessa police in St Mary every day except on Sundays. A stop order and curfew order were also imposed. He's not to be seen on the street between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Ninja Man and his son were granted bail in the sum of $2 million each last week.

The veteran dancehall deejay along with his son and two others were slapped with the murder charge of a 20 year old man in 2009. The men are to return to court on July 16.

Demarco disses Popcaan?

What we know ..is that Popcaan sometimes utters "yaaaooow"... Demarco in one of his latest tracks seem to have an issue with this. The producer/artiste indicated that this "yaaaooow" was stolen from him. Which by some definition implies there is an issue between Popcaan's camp and Demarco's.
It was also evident in the track called Kingston that Demarco was upset about what youtube did to him.

KINGSTON (Observer): CAGED Deejay Vybz Kartel was today granted bail in the sum of $3 million when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court today.
He was granted bail on the murder charge relating to the death of Barrington 'Bossie' Bryan who was shot dead while standing among a group of persons in Gregory Park, St Catherine in July last year.
Kartel will however, remain behind bars as he faces another murder charge in relation the death of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.
He is to return to court on April 13.

KINGSTON (Observer): A heated verbal clash between the prosecution and defense attorneys representing embattled Deejay Vybz Kartel caused a short adjournment in the murder trial now underway in the Home Circuit Court.

The adjournment was requested by the prosecuting attorney who informed the court that she was not in possession of the case file and was not aware that Kartel had been previously offered bail in the sum of $3 million.

The heated exchange started when Kartel's attorney Christian Tavares-Finson, requested a bail extension for his client.

Kartel and his two co-accused, Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald, are charged with the murder of Barrington 'Bossie' Bryan who was shot dead while standing among a group of persons in Gregory Park, St Catherine last year.

Kartel was offered bail in December last year.

A new bail application will be made for embattled Dancehall Deejay Vybz Kartel, in the Home Circuit Court on Friday.

Kartel's murder trial was transferred from the Gun Court section of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to the Circuit Court today and his $3 million bail which was offered to him in December was revoked.

His two co-accused, Nigel Thompson and Lendburgh McDonald, were ordered to return to court on April 13 when bail applications are expected to be made on their behalf.

KINGSTON(Observer): EMBATTLED deejay Vybz Kartel is sheduled to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on March 21 for the start of his ganja trial which suffred another delay last Tuesday.

The artiste who was dressed in a grey suit and white shirt was remanded in custody after his trial was postponed for the second time.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is facing a charge of illegal possession of marijuana. He was previously offered $40,000 bail but cannot take it up because of other criminal charges against him.

The entertainer was arrested on September 30 of last year after police raided a hotel he was in at New Kingston and reportedley found a small quantity of ganja in the rooom he was occupying.

The artiste is also scheduled to appear in the Gun court section of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on the same day in relation to the July murder of Gregory Park, St Catherine resident Barrington 'Bossie' Bryan. Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald are charged in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court along with Kartel.

I remember in the good ole days of the ...heated war between Bounty Killer and Beenie Man there were a number references to Patrick Roberts - the former boss of Beenie Man. Bounty Killer sets the order for Mama Ivy Funeral

OCHO RIOS (Iriefm): Family, friends, industry players and fans will bid their final farewell to Bounty Killer's mom Miss Ivy this weekend.
Miss Ivy, who Bounty introduced to fans through songs, will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 17. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon at the SwallowField Baptist Church. Entertainer Richie Stephens who was a close friend of Miss Ivy is expected sing.
Meanwhile, Bounty Killa is emphasizing that all mourners behave in a respectful manner and avoid playing loud music, smoking or drinking.
Killa is also encouraging persons attending to wear black or white.
Miss Ivy died on February 26.

Bounty Killer granted leave

KINGSTON(Star): Dancehall artiste Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Pryce was granted bereavement leave when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The artiste who is mourning the passing of his mother, Miss Ivy, had his ganja trial rescheduled for June 6.
On February 26, the entertainer's mother, Ivy Williams, who was diagnosed with cancer, succumbed to the illness at the Medical Associates Hospital in St Andrew.
Pryce, who is being represented by attorney Linda Wright, is facing charges of possession of and smoking ganja.
It is alleged that he was seen smoking along Grenada Way in New Kingston in October 2010.
Pryce was held and searched and a small quantity of ganja was reportedly found in his possession.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.

Vybz Kartel..rejected once again!!

CAGED Deejay Vybz Kartel and four of his co-accused were remanded when they appeared in the Supreme Court today.

They are charged with the August 16, 2011 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams, who was beaten to death in a house in Havendale, St Andrew over the disappearance of two illegal firearms.

Charged with Kartel for Williams' murder are fashion designer Calvin Hay, entertainer Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell, Andre St John, Kahira Jones and Shane Williams. Hay was offered $1 million bail during a previous court appearance.

A bail application filed on behalf on Campbell by attorney Micheal Deans, was denied.

They to return to court on April 13.

The court was old that a forensic certificate was outstanding and transcripts of recordings of the accused men are to be served on the defense.

Oh No Bounty Killer woes continues

Kingston (Observer): THE ganja trial of well-know dancehall artiste Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Pryce  failed to get under way this morning in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court  due to the recent passing of  the entertainer's mother, Miss Ivy.
Pryce was scheduled to begin his trial today  but was granted bereavement leave  to deal with the death of his mother when he appeared in court  today before Resident Magistrate Maxine Ellis who extended his bail.
The trial was rescheduled for June 6.

The drug trial of embattled dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel is expected to get underway in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.
Kartel is facing the charge of illegal possession of marijuana.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, has been offered $40,000 bail but he cannot take it up because of other charges.
The police said they held Kartel, and others in a hotel room in New Kingston last September.
The police also said a quantity of ganja was also found in the room.
Kartel is before the courts on other charges including murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice

Mavado trial postponed

KINGSTON (Observer):A shortage of court rooms at the Montego Bay Resident Magistrates Court building forced the postponement of the continuation of the trial of dance hall artiste Mavado earlier today.
The trial of Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, started last week and was schedule to continue today but with all the court rooms being used due to the start of circuit, the case was put off until April 23.
Mavado, who is being represented by attorneys at law Martyn Thomas and Christian Tavares-Finson, is facing charges of malicious destruction of property and assault arising from an incident in rural St James in July last year.

THE second murder case against entertainer Vybz Kartel is to be transferred to the Home Circuit Court.
Kartel and his two co-accused today appeared in the Gun Court Division of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court where the matter was postponed until next week Wednesday at which time the case is expected to be transferred.
Charged along with Kartel for the July murder of Gregory Park, St Catherine resident Barrington 'Bossie' Bryan, are Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is on $3 million bail in relation to that charge.
The entertainer and a group of other men are also to appear in the Home Circuit Court on Friday in relation to the August 16, 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

Too much Dancehall and Reggae on Trinidad radio

(Trinidad Express writer): I wish to respond to the well written letter published in the Express yesterday by Ken Joseph concerning certain radio stations that choose to play soca only around Carnival time.
I remember a friend of mine was discussing which radio station was going to be the first to play Jamaican music on Ash Wednesday and a few stations didn't disappoint at all and now the dancehall music is more explicit than ever.
Yet, I wonder, how often do Jamaica and the other Caribbean countries play our soca music. Does anyone know? There are many Jamaicans who don't even like our soca and chutney but we swallow all the crap their artistes sing. We act as if we are really from the "Gaza" and "Gully". We sad like that.
The two main radio stations that are at least 96 years old tend to throw soca out of the door like the baby with the bath water. So if we don't appreciate our music, how on earth do we expect outsiders to like it? Imagine some radio stations only play our music for Carnival and Carnival is mainly from January-February. Sigh. Lord, put a helping hand.
Not only do we need to play more of our own music, we need to have more programmes to edify young people like encouraging them to live a better lifestyle, academically, spiritually, physically and socially.
The two 96 stations can do much much better. I need not hear Popcaan, Konshen, Mavado and Vybz Cartel whole day and yes. I know that I can switch the station; I do it all the time.

Buju Banton still fighting...

KINGSTON(Star): Buju Banton's lawyer has responded to the United States' government's request to have the courts ignore his appeal to have the artiste's guilty verdict overturned.
Last month, David Oscar Markus had filed an appeal, saying in essence, that the State had failed to bring enough evidence to convict Buju, real name Mark Myrie.
The State, through Assistant US Attorney James Preston, had been quick to respond, saying there was more than enough evidence to have convicted Buju and that the courts should rethink throwing out a gun charge the prosecution had tacked on to the charges during a second trial.
But Markus has not rested on his laurels and has responded to the prosecution's cross appeal saying the document did not refute their failure to prove Buju's guilt.
Markus has also restated his claim that Buju was entrapped by a nefarious government agent, that the artiste's right to a speedy trial was violated and that the acquittal on the gun charge issue was the correct one.

Bounty Killer now focus on trial after mothers death

The trial of dancehall entertainer Rodney Price more popularly known as Bounty Killer is to start in the Gun Court on June 20.

Price is on bail and is charged jointly for illegal possession of firearm, assault at common-law and unlawful wounding arising from an incident on September 27, 2007.
It is reported that an off duty policeman left a club and noticed a number of vehicles along St Lucia avenue blocking a section of the roadway.
He told the men to clear the roadway when he was  reportedly attacked, and a gun allegedly pointed at him

This is a new song from Jamaica dancehall reggae music star Mavado. This new song is called "Soulja Girl"...
There are those who is putting their heads on the block and saying that this song will go nowhere, that the song is boring...and not quite a track like his recent hit called "settle down" ... its critisised that this new song Soulja or Soldier Girl has too much foriegn made ingredients and that makes it retarding factor.

Now...Kartel still have tune a road ..and Mavado still a do his thing but he more foriegn minded now.. The Bounty Beenie thing is now suppose to be the beef on the table. To me ..its beyond any respect to give credit to this beef between the two dinousours of Jamaican Dancehall Music ..which stemmed from Piracy, Badmind, Jealousy, D'Angel ....etc

Now the beef between them ..in that pic..is a good looking one.. and thats how I will see things with these guys..There going to be genuine anger between them as there were... but it will be looked at from an understanding perspective

Vybz Kartel complains of potential unfair trials

KINGSTON (Gleaner): Jailed dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel is worried that he will not get a fair trial for the range of offences including murder with which he has been charged.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, said this is because of how the police have been treating the matters relating to him.

In a letter to his friend, university professor Dr. Carolyn Cooper, Kartel said he is being painted as an evil DJ by day, don by night and a murderer, who is society's number one cause for crime and violence.

He also said the police have been using the media to slaughter him and to form a public opinion of him contradicts his real image.

In the letter published in Professor Cooper's Sunday Gleaner column, Kartel said the cops have tried his case in the public and found him guilty.

He complained that every single piece of alleged evidence and every new development in his case is broadcast on TV, as though the matter is a soap opera.

According to Kartel, he has been in court numerous times and he does not see where the cases of people accused of heinous crimes have been treated in the public sphere.

Now we know that Mavado has his visa and Aidonia..(i think)should have his..but its kind of odd that these guys spend a good bulk of their time in Jamaica and it so happens that the girls they choose to marry are citizens of the United States it seems..
Anyway ... we dont know if the marriage fever finish.. Jah Cure Mavado and now Aidonia..

Why Popcaan dont visit the beast boss Kartel?

You know ..this issue with pocaan not visiting Kartel has been swirling for some time now. In my opnion it seem odd that ..as Kartel get locked up Popcaan thing shat sky high. It is clear seh Kartel was holding back the kid. Thats no suprise, its almost...i said almost surprising that the Gaza prefect thing rocket way beyond the sky. From late last year Popcaan ting a shat ...till it reach the point that he has multiple tunes one itunes top 100 Reggae chart..and lock the local chart for months now and collabs with Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg within days.
So why Kartel did a hold back the youth?.. we know that already.. Kartel has apects of Bounty Killer behaviour but worst...far worst beyond believe..that bad mind, that wicked mentality ...and thus this might be the reason why Popcaan dont visit the ..'beast'..in jail.

Mr. Vegas 'I Have Not Enjoyed My Career Non At All'

OCHO RIOS (Iriefm):Mr. Vegas has made a shocking revelation.
The outspoken dancehall deejay said 'I Have Not Enjoyed My Career Non At All'. Sometime all we need is a little love Mr. vegas indicated in reference to entertainers in general. He indicated that he has been through a lot and he had to be extra spiritual extra strong among extra things. Mr. Vegas was speaking during the Entertainment Buzz Wednesday.
Mr. Vegas is expected to launch his double disc cd dubbed Sweet Jamaica on March 6. The album will be available worldwide later this month.

Wiz Khalifa to Marry Amber Rose

(MTV): Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose have been public about their romance since the pair first began dating, and this week the Pittsburgh rapper put a ring on it. Wiz proposed to Amber Rose and the couple confirmed the engagement with a photo of Amber's new ring and a series of Tweets. "She Said Yes!!!" Wiz wrote on Twitter, sharing a picture of Amber sporting an oval-cut diamond ring.

"He made me the Happiest Woman in the World!!!!" Rose followed up on Twitter with the same picture attached to her message. "We Love all u Rosebuds, Rosestuds & Taylors so much!"

Amber and Wiz began dating early last year, and they appeared together on an episode of "RapFix Live" in March. The media coverage surrounding the couple hasn't always been so rosy, especially when the topic of Rose's ex-beau Kanye West has come up, but through it all, their relationship has continually flourished.

The couple has been very vocal about their plans for marriage in the past year. "We discuss it all the time; like he said, we're very much in love," Rose told MTV News while standing next to Wiz on the VMA Pre-Show black carpet. Miss Ivy who Bounty Killa introduced to fans through songs, died at hospital on Sunday (26/02/12). Music News understands that a Wake will be held for Miss Ivy on Monday.
Meanwhile, Bounty Killa’s song Mama’s Love produced by Chiney K Productions and released in 2005, has been re-released following Miss Ivy’s passing. In the song Bounty Killa speaks of his mother’s love and how she was always there for him.
Miss Ivy Williams died at age 71.

Snoop Dogg visited Vybz Kartel in jail?

Snoop Dogg, US-rapper who recently stepped the shores of Jamaica on a 'project' was rumoured to have visited VYBZ KARTEL (Adidjah Zeim Palmer) at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre in Jamaica where he's (Kartel) been kept behind bars since October 1, 2011.
Meanwhile, a different source also says that it was 'only anticipated' that Snoop Dogg would be visiting the 'Worl Boss' (Vybz Kartel) in prison to 'see how he's faring'.

Snoop Dogg however is in Jamaica to record some songs for his upcoming album (Reincarnated) at Geejam Studios in Portland, Jamaica. Other foreign acts recording alongside Snoop are Akon and Alicia Keys.
Snoop together with his wife, Shante Taylor-Broadus and accompanying entourage visited the Nyabinghi Centre in Montego Bay; seeking authentic material for his new documentary, "Snoop In Jamaica" which explores the depths of Rastafarian culture.
According to prominent local booking agent, Olimatta Taal during a radio interview on Tuesday, Snoop talked of being strongly influenced by Bob Marley while insisting that he wanted to do the documentary because he wanted to personally understand the concept of Rastafarianism after seeing television shows talking about its origin.

Sean Paul Tomahawk set to Conquer

TOMAHAWK Technique the fifth album from international recording artiste and dancehall star Sean Paul has popped up on a few major charts since its limited release in late January.

The album is the follow-up to the 2009 effort Imperial Blaze. It was released by Atlantic Records in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Japan, South Africa and Mexico.

According to data obtained from the iTunes website, Tomahawk Technique is currently charting on four major charts.

On the iTunes Top Ten Albums Chart in Germany, the 12- track set is currently at number eight. It holds the number six position in Austria, while in Switzerland it sits comfortably at number six.

The album's biggest success to date has been in Japan where it debuted at number one on the iTunes chart. It is currently at number 10 and number six on the overall domestic and international combined charts just a day after its release.

To date only two singles have charted from the album on the European charts. The first single Got 2 Luv U featuring American singer Alexis Jordan climbed to number one in Switzerland and hit the Top 10 in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Norway, and Spain. It reached number 11 on the UK Pop Singles Chart.

The second single She Doesn't Mind raced to the number one spot in Switzerland and registered top 10 positions in Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg, France, Germany, and in Norway. The single also topped the Japan iTunes pop genres chart and stalled at number 15 on the iTunes domestic and international combined singles chart.

Tomahawk Technique is yet to see a stateside release. The album features collaborations with producers Stargate, Benny Blanco, DJ Ammo and Shellback. American singer and former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland appears on the track How Deep is Your Love.

Gyptian Helps out Ice Prince

Ice Prince is not so popular round these parts but he is teaming up with Gyptian the Jamaican dancehall-reggae super star.
