Weeks later, said witness gave a statement to the Public Defender saying that he was physically assaulted and threatened by the police to say that I was involved in 'Bossie' Burton's death. Days later, he gave another statement to the Public Defender saying that since he recanted the first statement, he has been getting death threats via calls to his phone."

"Days after my first murder charge, I was charged with another murder (Clive 'Lizard' Williams). In this case, the police (by way of a Senior Superintendent who was later charged with "attempting to pervert the course of justice" in a separate incident) campaigned every Monday morning on a certain TV station claiming they had DNA evidence, which came back 7 months later as negative. They also led the public to believe that they had video tape of me and my co-accused murdering Williams. I would like to add that the police made a lot of damaging remarks against me. A most notable one would be "since his arrest, the community is a safer place."

Bounty Killer and Tommy Lee to work together at Long Beach

Top-flight dancehall deejay Tommy Lee Sparta and the 2012 Deejay of the Year Bounty Killer are set to share stage at Spring Break 2013 in Negril, this, the first occasion since their rather short musical rivalry last year.

The promoter of the event, Chin, has also billed a host of other top acts for spring breakers in Negril come March 30, inside Long Bay Beach.

These include headliner Sizzla, I-Octane, KipRich, Flippa Moggler, Major Mackerel alongside veterans Major Cat, Tony Tuff and Johnie P.

"We are excited that Spring Break Negril will be the first time since the 'throw word' saga, that a show will accommodate both Tommy Lee Sparta and Bounty Killer to share a venue and stage for the first time since late 2012", said Chin, the main promoter for the event.

According to him, this will impact the event positively.

Spring Break Negril is in its 14th staging and the organisers believe this year patrons will have their hands full while enjoying the day and night package.

Chin said, "This year is an all-day, all-night experience ... Six-a-side football competition with Sizzla and The Judgement Yard massive ... Some other celebrities will compete as well."

Tommy Lee Sparta will make his second Spring Break Negril appearance and he promises to ignite the Long Bay Beach stage and put on a stellar show for his Spartan Angels.

He told The WEEKEND STAR, "Whole heap a artiste deh pon de show and me a come please my fans. I get lots of tweets and messages online from people looking forward to seeing me there. Suh it's all about the music and about the fans that support me. Dat mean seh Negril Spring Break is a show I cannot afford to miss".

His manager Heavy D said, "We believe in the development of dancehall music and put that first. It has nothing to do with who is on the bill, we don't care who else is on the line-up. Whatever it takes to make the music grow, we make it work".

Spring Break Negril is usually held earlier in March, however, this year, it was pushed back until later in the month as the organisers are of the view that in reality, all of March is Spring Break.

Chin said, "We pushed it back this year because spring break is March entirely ... this year, Easter falls in March (month end) and so it's gonna be a long weekend. Patrons will treat it like a weekend get-a-way, especially for who wants to leave Kingston."

Spring Break Negril pulls thousands of patrons to the North Coast and the promoter sought to explain the pull factor.

According to Chin, "People love and anticipate Spring Break over the years because it's a getaway experience to behold in Negril ... The white sand beaches, good music, great food and great entertainment ... People party night and day, bathsuits for the day and dress by night. It's the only day and night event in Negril"

Buju Banton Still Hoping n Waiting

KINGSTON - Gleaner : A Florida federal judge is to order a juror to hand over her computer hard drive for a forensic search by an expert as international reggae star Buju Banton seeks a new trial.

The matter came up in court yesterday.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, US District Court Judge James Moody said he would allow a defense computer forensics expert to make a copy of the hard drive belonging to Terri Wright, who was the jury foreman at the trial.

Buju's attorneys are accusing Wright of violating court rules when she alleged researched information on the Jamaican entertainer during the trial.

The judge reportedly ordered that the expert could only release information about the alleged research to attorneys and that all other material should be kept private.

Wright has denied the allegation saying she conducted research only after the case had ended.

Buju's attorneys want his 2011 drug conviction to be overturned and a retrial ordered.

Buju, whose real name is Mark Myrie, is serving a 10-year prison term on his drug conviction.

Judge again denies Vybz Kartel freedom

Justice Glen Brown yesterday denied bail to dancehall artiste Adidja Palmer, popularly known as Vybz Kartel.

The bail application began in chambers last week Friday and continued yesterday

Attorney-at-law Valerie Neita Robertson who is representing Kartel in the murder case involving Clive 'Lizard' Williams made the application.

Kartel and his co-accused are to return to the Home Circuit Court on May 27 when it is expected that the trial will begin.

Prosecutor Joan Barnett had opposed the application on the basis that the prosecution has a strong case against him.

Kartel is charged jointly with Andre St John, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Calvin Haye and fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell, more popularly known as 'Shawn Storm'.

Kartel has been in custody since September 2011.

He has been granted bail in relation to the murder of Barrington 'Bossy' Burton in another case but cannot take up the offer because of the Williams matter.

It is alleged that Williams was killed at Kartel's home in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, 2011.

Williams and another man were reportedly taken to the entertainer's house to account for a lost firearm.

Williams' body has not been found.

One of the murder trials involving dancehall entertainer Adidja Palmer, otherwise called Vybz Kartel failed to get underway in the Home Circuit court today.

Kartel, Lenburgh McDonald and Nigel Thompson are charged in relation to the killing of St. Catherine businessman Barrington 'Bossy' Burton.

However the trial could not proceed because of the unavailability of witnesses.

The court was told that the witnesses are refusing to co-operate with the prosecution.

The trial was then rescheduled to May 27.

The prosecution says it's now exploring other avenues such as applying for the witness statements to be entered into evidence, should the witnesses fail to appear.

Kartel and his co-accused were charged in October 2011.

The police say Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park, St Catherine in July 2011.

Artiste thanked US official for visa on radio

TEN DAYS after a Jamaican entertainer was reissued with a United States visa after he bribed a law-enforcement official to assist him, the DJ purchased two Movado brand watches for the official. The DJ also publicly thanked the security official for his assistance during a radio interview.

The entertainer is named in a court document as D.B. The court document also lists the artiste's manager as J.J.G.

David J. Rainsberger, 32, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in federal court in Alexandria to receiving unlawful gratuities while stationed at the US Embassy in Kingston, and making false statements to the United States government on a national-security questionnaire.

"Sometime after April 2010, the defendant developed a close and personal relationship with D.B., a citizen of Jamaica who was a well-known musician both within Jamaica and elsewhere, and J.J.G., a citizen of the United Kingdom residing in Jamaica, who was D.B.'s business manager.

"At the time the defendant began his relationship with D.B. and J.J.G., D.B. had been declared ineligible for a visa to enter the US on account of accusations that he had been involved in criminal activity. D.B. and J.J.G. desired to have D.B.'s visa ineligibility removed so that D.B. could travel to the United States and take advantage of lucrative performance and recording opportunities.

"Within Jamaica, the defendant accompanied D.B. and J.J.G. to nightclubs, concerts, and parties, which other embassy law-enforcement officials also frequently attended.

"On account of his relationship with D.B. and J.J.G., the defendant received free of charge, admission to nightclubs and backstage access to concerts at which D.B. was performing. D.B., along with other well-known Jamaican musicians, also hosted and paid for a birthday gathering for the defendant and several of his friends.

"In or about June 2011, the defendant reported to embassy officials adjudicating D.B.'s pending application for a visa to enter the United States that based on his investigation of D.B., as the assistant regional security officer for investigations and that of other embassy law-enforcement officials, D.B's prior ineligibility should be eliminated.

"At no time did the defendant disclose to those officials the extent of his close and personal relationship with D.B. or J.J.G. or that he had received things of value due to his relationship with D.B. and J.J.G.

"On or about June 21, 2011, relying primarily on the defendant's representation regarding his investigations of D.B., embassy officials granted D.B.'s application for a visa to enter the United States.

CELEBRATED RETURN

"On or about June 30, 2011, the defendant contacted officials at the United States Department of Homeland Security to facilitate D.B.'s entry into the United States at the JFK International Airport in New York City.

"On or about July 1, 2011, on his way back to Jamaica from an official trip to London, the defendant travelled to New York City to join D.B. and J.J.G. in their celebration of D.B.'s return to the United States.

"While in New York City, D.B. appeared as a guest on a radio show and publicly thanked the United States government, the defendant and others for their assistance in helping him to obtain a visa to enter the United States. Also, while in New York City, D.B. purchased for the defendant shoes, clothing and two Movado brand luxury watches worth approximately US$2,500," court documents say.

A U.S. State Department law enforcement officer has pleaded guilty to accepting bribes to help a "well-known" Jamaican musician gain a visa to enter the United States, federal prosecutors in Alexandria said.
David J. Rainsberger, an officer with the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service, admitted to unlawfully receiving watches worth thousands of dollars and other gifts while stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica.
Rainsberger also admitted to making false statements to the U.S. government on a national security questionnaire.

The 32-year-old faces a maximum penalty of seven years in prison when he is sentenced on April 19 but is likely to receive less than two years based on federal sentencing guidelines, prosecutors said.

In recent years, a number of Jamaican artists have been stripped of their U.S. visas, and the U.S. Embassy in Kingston has provided no reasons for its actions. The ban on the visas forced the Caribbean entertainment industry to scale back its shows in the U.S.

Some of the artists, such as Grammy-winner Beenie Man and Mavado, have since had their visas reinstated.

According to court records, Rainsberger served as an assistant regional security officer for investigations at the U.S. Embassy in Kingston from 2009 to 2011.

hile there, Rainsberger became friends with a well-known Jamaican musician whose entry into the U.S. had been barred because of allegations of criminal conduct, prosecutors said. The musician was identified in court papers only by the initials D.B., but a law enforcement source confirmed to The Washington Examiner that the musician is Mavado, a top Jamaican performer whose real name is David Constantine Brooks.

This week, Snoop Lion, formerly known as Snoop Dogg, released a new video featuring Mavado called "Lighters Up" (see video embedded above).

Rainsberger conducted his own investigation into the allegations against Mavado in 2011, and subsequently reinstated the visa for the artist. That allowed Mavado to travel to the U.S. to take advantage of performance and recording opportunities.

In exchange for his assistance in obtaining a U.S. visa, the musician reportedly bought Rainsberger two luxury watches worth about $2,500.

Prosecutors said Rainsberger also received free admission to nightclubs, backstage passes and a birthday party hosted by Mavado.

At the same time, Rainsberger, who was already married, became engaged to a Jamaican woman and intentionally withheld the disclosure of the relationship from the U.S. government, prosecutors said.

Rainsberger also admitted to illegally accessing State Department visa and passport databases for personal purposes, prosecutors said.

Vybz Kartel lawyers Tries to set him FREE

KINGSTON Gleaner: Another attempt is to be made today by lawyers representing dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel to secure bail for the embattled deejay.

The bail application is being made in relation to the Clive 'Lizard' Williams murder case.

The lawyers have failed in previous attempts to get bail for Kartel.

They are to appear before a judge in chambers at the Supreme Court this afternoon to make another case for bail.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, has been in custody since September 2011.

He has been granted bail in relation to his other murder case and a conspiracy matter but he cannot take up the offer because of the Williams murder case.

It is alleged that Williams was killed at Kartel's home in Havendale, St. Andrew, on August 16, 2011 after he and another man were taken to the entertainer's house to account for a lost firearm.

Williams' body has not been found.

Mr Vegas attempts to Take away child from Cheating Mom

Vegas is seeking full custody of his 2 year old daughter after the child’s mother was allegedly seen via surveillance cameras getting intimate with her male companion in the entertainer’s home.

The case scheduled for today in The Bronx Family Court was rescheduled because the mother of the child was absent.

The new date is set for April, 23, 2013 at 9:00 a.m.

Vegas since the incident had broken down emotionally several times, thus one can imagine the ordeal the child is going thru ...

Update On Anthony B unfortunate situation

There were recent reports that Anthony B has been arrested in Houston County, Ga. on drug related charges.

Anthony B was returning from a tour of the West Coast of the United States where he had performed several dates in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Nevada.

While driving through the state of Georgia the tour bus in which the entertainer and his band were traveling was stopped, allegedly because the tint was too dark for a patrolman monitoring highway traffic.

The police received the full cooperation of the all the passengers and while there was no indications of wrongdoing, the police had everyone exit the bus and proceeded to search the vehicle.

During the search, a small amount of marijuana, less than 4 oz., and rolling paper was allegedly discovered among the belongings of three band members.

These individuals acknowledged at the scene, ownership of the substance that was found.

No illegal items were found on Anthony B or among his personal possessions and despite his protestations of his innocence the police nonetheless proceeded to arrest everyone in the bus.

Based on the small quantity of marijuana that was found, the manner in which it was been held and the obvious indications of personal use by the parties who possessed the marijuana, the police chose to overcharge this as possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

These charges are absolutely not supported by the facts of this case.

Anthony B maintains his innocence and will vigorously fight these charges. He looks forward to the opportunity to show over the coming weeks that these charges are unfounded and but for the over zealousness of the police officers involved, he and others of his band would not have been charged.

Anthony B wishes to thank all his fans and supporters for their continued and overwhelming support as he fights these charges and speedily put this matter behind him.

Brand New Song From Tommy Lee - Sparten Angel

Dancehall deejay Tommy Lee Sparta, who has been described by international media such as Google Play as 'the Jamaican demonic MC' and VICE magazine as the 'Antichrist deejay', is singing a different tune.

Today, he officially released his latest single, Spartan Angels. The soulful piece is a far cry from the fast tempo tough tunes he is known for.

"Doing different things this year. International the thing deh ... yeah, mi a christen the demons", said Tommy Lee Sparta when asked about the song, Spartan Angels. He went on to say that he wrote the song, and that's how he vents and expresses himself through music. "Demons on my mind and I'm about to christen' is a striking line from the song, and Tommy Lee confirmed that he is christening his demons and as time progresses more insight will be brought on this situation. He, however, refused to further elaborate on the issue.

The song introduces singer Tabeta Cshae, who is said to be one of his three spartan angels. She belts high notes on the rock influenced record.

"I feel elated to do a recording with him (Tommy Lee Sparta). He's a rare talent. It feels awesome as he does very few collaborations, plus I am the first female artiste to sing alongside him," Tabeta Cshae told The STAR.

The song is produced by Andrew 'Anju Blaxx' Myrie of UIM Records and will be available on iTunes via 21st Hapilos.

Last Sunday January 27, dancehall star Anthony B, born Keith Anthony Blair, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. More Details After The Jump… The artist’s mugshot and details of the arrest were found on an official website listing arrests throughout the U.S. He was reportedly arrested with several other persons whose names are not yet known. According to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, Georgia has extremely tough penalties for ganja— possession of anything more than an ounce is considered a felony under Georgia state law. The artist had been scheduled to perform an acoustic set in Brooklyn this week at One Mic but now there’s no telling when his fans might get to see him perform. Anthony B first rose to prominence in 1996 on the strength of his smash hit “Fire Pon Rome.” His debut album So Many Things… established him as one of dancehall’s leading cultural DJs, renowned for his conscious lyrics and dynamic stage performance.

Busy Signal faces more charges over passport fraud

Police investigators say entertainer 'Busy Signal' is to face more charges in relation to obtaining three passports with a false name.

'Busy' whose real name Glendale Gordon, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court this afternoon.

His bail was extended to May 14, when he is expected to return to court.

It is alleged that the entertainer unlawfully obtained three Jamaican passports in the name Reanno Gordon, which he used to travel abroad as an entertainer.

Busy returned to Jamaica late last year, after serving six months in a United State prison for absconding bail.



The artiste was arrested in Minnesota in 2002 on drug charges.

He was subsequently granted bail, but fled the US and returned to Jamaica shortly after.

Busy Signal was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport last May after returning from a European tour.

After one court appearance, he waived his right to an extradition hearing and agreed to go back to Minnesota to answer the charge of failing to appear in court.
